Public Image Events supported the programme across Scotland with a focus on:
• Dandelion Festivals - production and operational delivery of two large-scale, multi-day festivals in Glasgow (June) and Inverness (September)
• Sow, Grow and Share - logistics support, including arranging deliveries of plants/soil (growing materials) to schools across Scotland
• Floating Gardens - logistical and operational support for a canal-based outreach strand using specially adapted narrow boats travelling between Glasgow and Edinburgh, stopping in communities to distribute plants, give growing advice, and host folk-song performances.
Both Dandelion Festivals were free, high-footfall public events with an embedded sustainability narrative, requiring robust operational planning from PIE to allow the creative programme to run safely, smoothly and inclusively.
PIE oversaw the logistics for the suite build and co-ordination of all temporary event infrastructure, supplier and contract management, as well as artist liaison, event operations, event control, and overall Health & Safety.
The Sow, Grow and Share programme was a complete end-to-end delivery package from PIE, involving co-ordination with schools, local authorities and suppliers, as well as logistic planning for routes, schedules, tracking and reporting. The delivery of this programme was crucial in enabling hands-on participation, facilitating schools to do the growing activity and feed into harvest celebrations later in the programme.
Floating Gardens was a completely unique programme of activity and the PIE team led on the operational and logistics planning for this programme, including; event infrastructure logistics and set up, technical management for performances, overall health & safety including risk assessing and contingency planning. This strand brought the programme to the people of Scotland, turning the canal journey into a moving community venue and extending Dandelion beyond the two big festival weekends.
